Clary sage is a hardy, fuzzy-looking, bi-annual, perennial plant. It is primarily found in southern Europe as well as western Asia, northern Africa and throughout the United States. We now extract sclareolide from the plant, a molecule naturally present in the composition of mature clary sage. The Clarins Laboratories have demonstrated new properties in this purified molecule: protection of sensory receptors and a soothing action. For centuries, it has been known to have beneficial and soothing medicinal properties. It was a sacred herb for the Romans who used it as a "well-being plant".
