Moonlight flower

Originally from Central America's warm, humid tropical forests, the queen of the night is a cactus with spectacular flowers. Sometimes, it takes up to 20 years to witness the plant's first flowers, which can reach 40cm in diameter. The flower blooms only one night a year and releases a powerful vanilla-like fragrance that attracts pollinating insects for the few hours it remains open. Furthermore, its Latin name Selenicereus grandiflorus comes from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selena, as a reference to the flowers blooming only during the night. However, its unique aspect does not stop there. This flower was the queen of France, Marie-Antoinette's favourite, and she would spend long hours watching the plant. The cactus has different properties, including sedative properties, tonicardiac, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The queen of the night's fresh flowers is harvested by hand and extracted via a cryoextraction process at -196°C. Remaining at a very low temperature, this extraction process makes it possible to preserve the fresh plant's natural components and offer the best possible results.
